Honest, Thorough Prep For College
Prepare for Higher Education
Before You Start
My Story, My Aim, My Wish
My Story
I’m Maurice. Maurice I Davenporto. Not what you expected? I’m not surprised. My coauthors, Dr. Steve Cohen, an expert in higher education learning, and Dr. Dr. (yes, a double doctor) Lusha Liu, an expert in student wellness and co-founder of Massachusetts General Hospital student wellness center, taught me well. The unexpected is everywhere, especially at college. Whatever you’re expecting college to be, especially if college is new to you and your family, it’s going to be different. That’s why I am reaching out.
I’m not here to shout about the good different; just the different that can cause some dismay and hysterics. For those of you who enjoy reading, I’ve said what needs to be said in a book. It’s an easy read with rich ideas. For the more musically inclined please consider Part 1 of a rock/jazz/rap opera that tells a story of how your college experience can unravel. I recommend you invest in both. The cost in time and money is miniscule compared to your higher education. If either the book or opera help you manage your first year, and anticipate, bypass or push through just a few tough times, then all my time on this branch pondering what to say was well worth it.
